Hi! Today I wan to talk about Jane Addams. She born in  Cedarville, Illinois  in 1860 into a wealthy family. She was a feminist social worker, cofounder of Hull House with  Ellen Gates Starr  and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Jane was a important leader in the history of social work and the suffragatte movement. Jane established Hull House in a poor neighborhood of Chicago. The settlement home provided the poor and working class with much-needed social services, such as child care and improved sanitation. Jane Addams's proposals at the beginning of the 20th century not only mark the first steps of Social Work in the world but in other areas, as it contains dimensions progressive, transgressive and extremely critical of the social scenario of the time. It is because of all her work and contributions that I admire her and value her work so much. Being a woman in her time was not easy and yet she did incredible things and left us a great legacy.

My favorite meal

Image
Hello, my favorite dish is arroz chaufa, which is a dish that combines the flavors and techniques of Peruvian and Chinese cuisine and represents the best of this cultural fusion. It is a recipe that includes a mixture of fried rice accompanied by vegetables, egg omelet and meats to taste, and its main secret is in the use of the oriental technique of stir-frying in a wok during cooking. There is no doubt that Arroz chaufa is one of the most popular dishes in Peru, being consumed not only in restaurants and homes in all parts of the country, but also adapted to all kinds of regional inputs. I really like it because the mix of the flavors of the vegetables, the rice and the soy sauce is incredible and the recipe is very easy to make. I consider it to be a very filling meal and also healthy as it includes all the food groups.

Post 3 : My favourite piece of technology

Hi everyone! My favorite piece of technology is GPS, or the Global Positioning System, which is a piece of technology that can pinpoint locations on earth from satellites in the earth's orbit. It helps me a lot, I can't imagine my life without it because I have very poor spatial orientation, and it is very difficult for me to remember how to get almost anywhere. I use the Google Maps application, which is very simple to use. Once you have downloaded the application, all you have to do is enter the address or name of the place you want to go, and it will show you multiple options to get there, whether on foot, by public transport, or by car, and show how long it can take approximately.  Another function it has is to show you where you are in case you are lost or disoriented. The only point against it is that it needs the internet to work, at least on smart phones. I highly recommend this piece of technology, because I think it makes transportation to new places much easie...

Why did I choose my major?

Since I was good in every subject, it was even harder for   me to choose an area of study. At the time I had to choose because I didn't have any time left, I knew that I wanted something related to biology and I found Biotechnology. At the time it seems an interesting career, therefore I decided to study Molecular biotechnology engineering at Universidad de Chile.  A time after I realized that Biotechnology wasn't what I expected, I had bad grades and I felt bad about myself. Despite this, I continued studying biotechnology until the fourth year of university. Then I couldn't resist anymore, I was unhappy, So I left the university and I toke some time to think what I was going to do with my life. After of a lot of research, I found Social Work, a beautiful career that have everything I wanted. Social Work is a career that gi...
